Q: How was the 25% refund determined?

A: Although the season was cut short abruptly, there is a significant amount of costs expended leading up to Opening Day and the start of the season. In most cases, the league's budget is approximately 60-70% spent by the time our first games happen. The remaining budget for the season is there for field rentals, maintenance, additional equipment needs, tournaments, awards/ceremonies, closing costs, etc. This remaining budget is what has been allocated for refunds as well as the expected reductions in our budget for 2021 based on the 40% discount carried over to 2021. Our goal will be to continue to keep our registrations at or below what it was in the previous years while providing the best possible experience for our MHLL families which we expect to be able to do with the refunds/credit provided.

Q: Since the uniforms were donated by the Oakland A's, why would my refund/credit not be greater?

A: Yes, the jerseys and hats were graciously donated by the Oakland A's this
season. However, the polos and hats for the coaches, printing of names and numbers on the jerseys, belts and socks were not included. These were provided by the league as part of the registration costs. We did see a decrease in our projected expenditures for uniforms overall, but the board voted to reallocate those funds to refresh all of the equipment for our teams this season which was originally projected to be completed by 2023. We have also taken into account that we have no commitment from the Oakland A's next season on continued sponsorship so naturally providing a 40% discount while potentially increasing our spend on uniforms may create some challenges next season depending on how many families take the refund versus the discount/credit.

Q: What if I am still dissatisfied with the approach taken by MHLL?

A: MHLL is run by volunteers in the community who also in many cases have children participating in the league now or in the past. We understand that the results of this season are very disappointing to all of us and the refund/credit program may not be what some would have expected. We are a non-profit league and as such all revenue goes directly to the product we put out there for our kids and the community. The MHLL Board, our coaches, umpires, team moms and all of the volunteers who spend tireless amounts of time and effort to help run this league do so without being paid. We welcome all feedback and ideas on how we can improve the league and those who would like to assist in helping to do so.
